In the dead of the night, you open your eyes.

You are a Souvlaki, a parasitic alien race with the ability to infest a host, control their body, and even alter their memories and state of consciousness. An accident has trapped you on this ship...but also provided you with a source of powerful hosts should you have the cunning and skill to capture it for your own. Unfortunately, the AI and uninfected will be none too pleased should they learn of your presence, so for now you need to lay low and play along with the game. To avoid risk of detection, you will remain in a dormant state and allow your host full control at all times save for one night of the week, where you will meet with your fellow Souvlaki to discuss your plans.

Tonight is that night. Your host remains fast asleep as you bypass this ship's primitive technology, hiding your movements from the AI as you head to the viewing port, locking the door behind you.

[ first he loses his gf and then his brave leader wants to kill him wtf ]

[ dave's moving to stand by adrien's side, ready to act if asked, but his tone is placating and calm. ]

[he's just staring at Rhys's pathetic form with a bit of a sneer before he goes back to his usual smiles persona]

Oh, I doubt that, but let's see him try. [he crouches next to Rhys, all smiles and easy air] I'm not going to kill you. I wouldn't have given you warning if I was, who do you take me for? [is that supposed to be... reassuring?] You've made a mess of things. Elizabeth almost had it, too, if it wasn't for your host. This goes beyond poor pickings. Whatever you do with the time you have left... You better make it count. Don't die more of a failure to Her than you currently are.

[he's, of course, talking about mommy, who all warned you about his temper FYI]

[ there's a flat expression here as he looks between dave and adrien, a frown on his face. when he speaks again, it's spit out -- ]

It wasn't my fault. How was either of us supposed to predict what was going to happen? And I'll remind you that all the evidence pointed at her, even if she didn't remember.

[ a tendril slowly uncurls from his body then, reaching up to the vent he came in from and move to pull him up towards it again. looks like he made a bit if a puddle to sit in and the blood drags up from the floor, over the wall and into the vent as he goes. ]

I'm leaving. Rather join up with her again quicker than listen to the two of you for what time I have left. It's like you don't even miss her.

[ and then off he goes, a skittering of claws and dripping blood. ]

he misses having the whole team there tbh. :c this wasn't how he wanted a promotion. for that matter he never even wanted a promotion, he was happy to let liz overachieve... ]

[there's a beat as Adrien breathes in as if trying to get himself under control before he kicks at the wall right underneath the vent where Rhys fucked off. It doesn't leave any lasting damage, so that's... something]

--He can get off his high horse, it's his pick's fault she's dead, and then he goes and gets himself killed on top of that?

[there's a deep growl in his voice right now. this is the temper tantrum mom warned y'all about, though he's obviously trying to... hold back to not do anything Obvious]

[ dave remains calm as adrien kicks the wall, though he also stays nearby. ]

...He's bein' way too emotional. Of fuckin' course neither of us is happy she's gone, but this is a mission from the Queen. We don't have the luxury of bein' melodramatic.

[ which isn't to say they won't anyway, but. damnit.

dave's going to have to actually try here. ]

[Dave says that like the meowstermind isn't the most melodramatic motherfucker in existence... but it just makes him sigh]

This isn't ideal, but we'll have to deal with it. I'm afraid you're going to have to work harder than you like to. [he knows dave likes to coast, and this general likes to play at everyone's strengths, but. this obviously isn't working.] When we act next, I'm making sure there aren't any loose threads this time. We obviously can't appeal to their morality if they know we're around.
