the pygmalion. . . ONLINE LOGGING YOU IN . . . FIREWALL AL-2955 visits you, as if she's followed you through the tubes and connections aboard The Pygmalion. She waits in your room, as though she were tipped from the basins held by the twin angels into existence. She is patient, but instructs you to return to the conference room. Her hologram flickers, and she zips out of existence, back into the basins, back through the connections. Entering the conference room, you see that a small holographic terminal has lit up and is waiting for you. A list of the remaining participants displays itself, images of them staring back at you. The dead are blacked out, gone but not forgotten. Only hours ago did you vote on execution in this very room, and now AL-2955's robotic voice commands you to select one player to be safe for the week. [She crosses her arms.]

Well, Alice. You're trying to understand us, aren't you? Do you want to try guessing who I'm going to pick?

I am not programmed for gambling, Jessie, but if I had to choose based on your previous choices.. I believe I would say Adam. Most of your choices have been people you are not necessarily close to. Some, even, have been those you have a level of vitriol with. But you find use in them nevertheless, particularly after high levels of stress for them.

My second guess, if I am allotted, is Marinette. The reasoning is similar.

[And just like that, Jessie whips out a folded piece of paper. Back in her room, she'd likely written something underneath her covers so no camera could see what's beneath it.]

I suppose I have no choice but to teach you gambling, then. You and I are going to play a game, Alice. If you can guess the name of who I want to protect this week, I'll owe you a big favor. If you can't, I'm giving myself two picks this week instead of one.

[She twirls the paper in her fingers.]

My first guess will be Adam, then.

Adam is reasonable and keeping him around is for the best.

[Jessie agrees with that.]

But he's plain and unremarkable. I have every reason to believe he'll be safe. I'm sorry, but you're wrong.

Safe. I see.

Perhaps Dorian, then? If I were to wager, there is quite a bit of animosity towards him now, yet he has proven to be one of the least suspicious in terms of being a victim of our parasitic friends. It would benefit the group to keep him around.

Absolutely not!

[Jessie takes offense to that one.]

I've said it a thousand times. I'm a thief! Not a murder accomplice. I can't protect someone like that at all. You've got one guess left, Alice.

I see. You have left me in a precarious situation, Jessie. Not many can claim to have made me 'sweat'.

Grell. You seem to have been taken with her during the trial, Jessie. Along with this, many people suspected her, causing her some level of duress. I suspect she may receive undue scrutiny because of this.

[She plucks the paper from her fingers and unfolds it. Pointing it towards the figurehead that is Alice, there's only one name written on the paper.

But I don't need a role to protect me, so I'll be taking those two picks now~! We should really do it again sometime, this was fun~!
