Dying might feel a little bit more like falling asleep, but this is harder, more painful. If you've ever been electrocuted, the feeling might seem familiar; the discovery you make when you open your eyes, too, is likely very familiar. It's the night sky. Stars twinkle, a fire cracks warmly. You sit up and observe the surrounding area, and it's like you've woken up in some sort of canyon. The fire burns brightly, the moon shines beautifully, the crickets sing, and it is ... peaceful. Mostly. You know you're dead. This must be, then, the after life? Or something like it, at least. The horizon stretches on forever, the dirt and gravel seemingly endless. The moon is so big and bright, it's like you could reach out and touch her. There's a shed not too far from the fire, only but a stone's throw away, as if someone else might have made it, and then went inside it. Approaching it, you can see the light glowing inside it through the dusty windows that are littered with fingerprints. A computer screen, so large and wide that it's baffling, sits, waiting. Turning knob reveals that the shed is unlocked, and stepping inside... it doesn't feel any different from the outside. A chair sits in the center of the room, a strange contraption strapped to the head of it. It looks like it would lower itself upon the head of whoever dares to sit on it, and wires from it's bottom curl up towards the machines attached to the screen. Several smaller desktop screens sit beneath the giant monitor. They, too, are hooked up to the machines scattered around the room, to the ominous one perched on top of the medical chair, and they blink, as if fighting to stay alive without use. Pressing the giant monitor on, it lights up, and displays, strangely enough... a security camera feed. You push the button. It switches to another room. Again, another room. Again, another room. So on and forth. You peeping tom! But no one can blame you, in the end. You might as well digitally haunt the rest of the ship until the game ends, and AL-2955 can clean out the trash bin. ...Right? rule book taken characters information cards |

[ Says the girl who ran through Paris denying the fact. Oops.
But, she nods, understanding where Bull and Machias came from. The travelers approached indeed and it pains her to see Adelina so happy, however, so oblivious. Was this what she had just been...? ]
Ah, we - [ Oh god, she has to think - ] we were traveling by the nearby river and merely docked for a moment to gather some firewood. My companions - er... [ SHE'S SO BAD AT THIS. ] Huckleberry and Finn here may need some assistance, surely a woman who could find this beautiful location may show us back to a smaller collection of trees suitable?
[ She's so sorry guys, she will definitely stumble back and let them tell the truth because she sucks at it. ]

My name is Arumat. She's referring to the other two as Huckleberry and Finn.
{ He's not taking on a moniker like that -- regardless he's thinking of something he learned from Adelina. There could be another way to get her to recall what's going on. }
While you're showing us around...I have an inquiry for you to consider:
Surely it wasn't always this peaceful for all of you? For your people and your sister?

[Arumat gets a bit of a look. Running out of patience here is only going to hurt them. Making her upset might work but there are ways to be gentle about it. He's fine with being Huckleberry and/or Finn though because that cultural reference flies right over his head.]
Yeah, help us out. Think we might have some things to talk about.
no subject
You're all very strange, aren't you? But we would be glad to assist you regardless. Come.
[as she stands, the other young man and woman do as well, eager to come along.]

[ Fine. Fine, he'll be Huckleberry and/or Finn. If the point is not to scare her, creating a racket would not help that situation. Even he knows that! ]
We appreciate it. [ ... Wait, the other two are getting up. Shit. ] That is, we would like to have a word with you too, miss, if it's no trouble. There's, er, an issue we need to discuss - and it's important.
no subject
She turns and mouths to Arumat and Bull: ]
Can you drag her if need be?
[ She takes a step closer, whispering under her breath. ]
I can open a tear and take us to a secluded area.

{ Is his only response to Bull and the look the man gives him hardly does anything but piss him off, but he does well to reign that in because he doesn't want to start a fight here.
Either way, Arumat's attention is caught by Elizabeth's mouthed to them and further still, the words whispered. He'll nod at the short-haired brunette, recalling from the very beginning the woman's ability... and what it entailed from the very first day they had arrived upon the Pygmalion. It was certainly impressive. }
...
{ For now he'll lapse into a small bit of silence otherwise, to prepare himself for when/or if he'd need to spring into action. }

An issue? If it's something important, the king and queen should know. Mother, father, you'll help them, won't you?
[true to her words, both of them bear a resemblance to her - look closely enough and it's easier to see they must be her parents. they both look at her with care and respect, and all five wait for these strangers to say their piece.]

With all due respect, Your Highness, I believe this is a matter best kept to your ears only. If you'll excuse this mere commoner for speaking out of turn while in the presence of such esteemed royalty, there are yet people who need you.
[ Aaaaand that attempt at channeling that genial aura? Total failure, but at least he's not shouting or outright throwing curses at them. ]
addie feel free to thread hop for a reaction
Her fingers tense as she looks off to the shrubbery a few yards away - as if trying desperately to open it subtly, her tear rips open and instead shows a calming riverbank. It flickers to life, no doubtedly still powerful compared to what she had in Cradle. ]
It's a matter only fitting for you, I'm afraid.
[ Glance to Arumat and Bull as if be ready ]

Whatever you have to speak with me about, you can at least tell the three of us. There's nothing I should know that Meryl and Rhys shouldn't.

{ Arumat sighs...then he looks over at Bull before Adelina and her friends. They don't have anymore time to dawdle here. At least not with Adelina's friends around her -- it would make it impossible if this proceeded as is any longer. Once Elizabeth's rift has fully been created, he's decided that now is the time to act.
Then he steps closer, acting like he was weirded out by the appearance of the tear as well. }
Familiar faces are always something you'd wish to have around you.
{ The next moment he's springing into action into an instant, quick dash and making an attempt to pull Adelina away from her friends-- the target, her right hand. If successful, Arumat would use his strength to at least force her grip away from Rhys first.
He's counting on Bull to follow up, regardless of how this goes, of course. }

We'll fill them in soon.

Let her go!
[a mage and a knight join the fray. sorry everyone!!]

[ THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SIMPLE KIDNAPPING -- why are we kidnapping the princess?
When in doubt, let the unarmed guy step in front of everyone and let loose the chords of hollering, even if it means he's about to be skewered by Adelina's sister. It's virtual reality, right? ... Right? Pray this means he won't be skewered a second time by another princess. ]
Stop! Are you even LISTENING, or are you far too prideful a noble to consider those who really need you?! While you're dawdling around in some farce, we're losing what survivors we do have! They don't have a lot of time left!
no subject
he's absolutely going to be punched in the face, though. sorry macchiato 2k16. at least it stops her pursuit for a moment, but she doesn't seem too keen to listen to what he has to say.]
Let my sister go!
[meanwhile, it looks like rhys is about to cast another spell, and addie is far from peaceful about this - she's struggling against both bull and arumat, though she has little chance at escaping from their grip without a weapon.]

Luckily for them, they're on a riverbank now - making it very difficult to escape. ]
Machias - don't bring nobility into this! [ She looks to everyone though - ] Thank you, but please keep her subdued... she - she can't help it.
[ However, her hand raises up, like she's trying to show a peace offering. ]
Adelina, listen to me - we're not trying to harm you. We need your help, truly! There's a matter we need you to concern yourself with...

...They're gone. They left. Where are they? Bring - bring them back.
[any ideal world, any version of her personal paradise - it's not that it can't be complete, no, it can't exist without them being there constantly. it's an impossibility. she feels as if her breath has been taken from her.]
... somehow i didn't notice stuff so don't mind a tag out of order?
{ That was so irritating to deal with, he's not going to lie, but he did sign up for this. }
We needed to speak to you about something and they would have been in the way. Where you were before and are now, isn't where you think it is, for one thing.
{ ...He hopes someone else says something too, because he doesn't know how else to start this? }
